Industry

Under the form of fillers or as active reagents, the calcium carbonates, magnesium carbonates and lime continuously offer new solutions to the industry.

Glass industry :

Limestone and dolomite are used as melting agents and ingredients for hollow glass, flat glass, glass fibres and glass wool.  CARMEUSE offers products with limited amount of iron and with controlled gradation.

Steel industry :

Lime and limestones are essential elements in the steel industry and are used at various levels in the steel production. They are also used in the purification process of non-ferrous metals such as aluminium and of some precious metals such as gold and silver.

Sugar industry :

Lime is used in the purification process prior to the crystallization of sugar.

It is used to precipitate the impurities contained in the juices obtained by infusion of sugar beat strips in warm water.  CARMEUSE offers products of controlled purity, low in silicia and magnesium.

Chemistry and agrochemistry :

CARMEUSE supplies products adapted to the chemical industry as raw materials or reagents for the production of chemical products such as sodium carbonate, fertilizers, tanning elements, petrochemical products.

Fine chemistry and human food industry :

CARMEUSE has developed specific products (LEDACAL©) to meet the strictest requirements in terms of purity in compliance with the  "Food Chemical Codex" standards.  These products are used in the food industry as fillers or as ingredients for the production of baby milk, candy, yogurts, ice cream and cheese.

Paper industry :

The pulp and paper industry applies lime at several stages in the production process. The PCC (Precipitated Calcium Carbonate), which is made by a reaction between milk of lime and  carbon dioxide, is used to improve the optical specifications of the paper.
